Pope sends telegrams in-flight from Rome to Thailand

Pope Francis has arrived in Thailand at the start of his 32nd Apostolic Journey. During the flight from Rome to Bangkok, he sent messages to the Heads of those States flown over along the route, praying for the peace and prosperity of their respective nations.

The plane carrying Pope Francis from Rome to Bangkok flew over thirteen countries. As is customary, the Pope sent a telegram to the Heads of those states, expressing his greetings and invoking God’s blessings on the people of those nations.

The Pope’s telegrams

Departing from Italy, Pope Francis sent his first message to the Italian President in which he explained how this Apostolic journey to Asia reflects his “keen desire” to meet his brothers and sisters in the faith, “and the inhabitants of those noble nations”.

Crossing the airspace of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, Pope Francis invoked blessings of joy and peace upon those nations. His message to Bulgaria recalled “with pleasure” his visit to that country last May.

Flying over Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Myanmar, the Pope sent messages assuring those countries of his prayers, while invoking Divine blessings of peace, prosperity and well-being.
