Pope receives Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón

Pope Francis receives Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, Spain’s Prime Minister, on Saturday.

The Holy See Press Office announced in a statement on Saturday that Pope Francis had received Mr Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, the Prime Minister of Spain, in an audience that morning.

After their meeting, the Prime Minister then met with His Excellency Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States.

This conversation, the Press Office statement says, “focused on bilateral relations and issues of common interest concerning the Holy See and Spain.”

They also discussed the “opportunity for constant dialogue between the local Church and government authorities.”

Other international issues, including the current health crisis, “the process of European interation” and migration were also discussed.
