Pope Francis pays brief visit to Gemelli hospital for evaluation

Pope Francis visits Gemelli hospital on Tuesday and returns to the Vatican before noon.

By Vatican News

The Pope returned to Gemelli University Policlinic on Tuesday – but this time, in contrast to his stay in the hospital two months ago, it was just for a quick checkup.

The Pope’s visit to Gemelli was confirmed by the director of the Holy See’s Press Office, Matteo Bruni, in response to questions from journalists after reports emerged this morning that the Pope had gone back to the hospital. Bruni’s statement explained that the Pope underwent some clinical examinations “and returned to the Vatican before noon.”

Hospitalized in march

The Pope was admitted to Gemelli earlier this year, on March 29, for infections bronchitis, and was discharged after three days, on April 1.
