Pope appoints new officials at Vatican Ecclesiastical Tribunal

Pope Francis appoints Monsignor Alessandro Recchia as Defender of the bond and Promoter of Justice and Professor of Canon Law, Fr. Ernest Bonaventure Ogbonnia Okonkwo, at the Vatican’s Ecclesiastical Tribunal.

Pope Francis appointed Monsignor Alessandro Recchia, vicar general of the Diocese of Sora-Cassino-Aquino-Pontecorvo, as Defender of the Bond at the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Vicariate of Vatican City.

In addition, the Pope appointed Reverend Ernest Bonaventure Ogbonnia Okonkwo, professor at the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Urbanian University in Rome, as Promoter of Justice in the aforementioned Ecclesiastical Tribunal.

The appointments were made public on Tuesday 2 May.
