Assessing the past and looking to the future

Fr Vivien Carol Etouolo, the General Secretary, as head of the Catholic Secretariat, which ensures the coordination and cohesion of the work of the Bishops’ Conference began by reviewing recommendations of the previous plenary of April 2023 and highlighted what had been done so far.

In his address, Archbishop Bienvenu Manamika of Brazzaville, President of the Congo Bishops’ Conference, expressed satisfaction and gratitude to Pope Francis, for the newly appointed Bishops in the country. He thanked the volunteer members of the various episcopal commissions, who, he said, work with dedication and selflessness. Nevertheless, he warned against complacency.

“Let us work in an orderly and disciplined manner in order to bring about qualitative change, and renewal for those we serve,” said Archbishop Manamika.
