The Pope’s telegrams

Departing from Italy, Pope Francis sent his first message to the Italian President in which he explained how this Apostolic journey to Asia reflects his “keen desire” to meet his brothers and sisters in the faith, “and the inhabitants of those noble nations”.

Crossing the airspace of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, Pope Francis invoked blessings of joy and peace upon those nations. His message to Bulgaria recalled “with pleasure” his visit to that country last May.

Flying over Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Myanmar, the Pope sent messages assuring those countries of his prayers, while invoking Divine blessings of peace, prosperity and well-being.
