São Tomé Catholic Youth Congress: “Youth and a Witnessed Faith”

Hundreds of Catholic young people from the Diocese of São Tomé and Príncipe have attended a Catholic Youth Congress that concluded at the weekend.

Melba de Ceita – São Tomé and Príncipe

The Youth Congress that ended over the weekend was held under the theme, “Youth and a Witnessed Faith.”

The Diocesan Congress took place at the parish of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Guadalupe), in the community of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Lobata District, north of São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe consists of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, situated in the equatorial Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Guinea about 300 and 250 km, respectively, off the northwest coast of Gabon. The Island country is considered Africa’s second-smallest state.

The objective of the Youth Congress was to provide young people with pastoral knowledge so that they would be prepared for the challenges posed by modern São Tomé’s society.
