Responding to journalists’ questions regarding the investigations over the disappearance of Emanuela Oralandi, the Holy See Press Office director underscores the shared desire to arrive at the truth.

In response to questions received by the Office of the Promoter of Justice regarding reports that have appeared in the media in recent days concerning the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, noted on 12 July that the Office of the Promoter of Justice is actively cooperating with the competent Italian authorities.
He recalled that in this spirit of cooperation, on 19 April Vatican magistrates handed over to Italy the available documentation related to the case, including details collected in the preceding months during the investigative activity, all covered by provisions for the confidentiality of investigations.
The Press Office director underscored that “the Holy See shares the family’s desire to arrive at the truth about the facts and, to this end, hopes that all investigative hypotheses will be explored.”
In conclusion, he stated that concerning media reports regarding a relative of Emanuela Orlandi, “that the correspondence in question expressly indicates that there was no violation of the sacramental seal of confession.”
