Pope Francis receives Polish president in the Vatican

The President of the Republic of Poland, His Excellency, Mr Andrzej Duda, meets Pope Francis in the Vatican, followed by a meeting with the Cardinal Secretary of State and the Secretary for Relations with States.

According to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office, Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda was received by Pope Francis in audience on Friday.

He later met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Cardinal Secretary of State, accompanied by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States.

The discussions were framed by the “context of the centenary of the birth of Saint John Paul II and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the independent autonomous trade union ‘Solidarność’.”

Specific topics included the Church’s mission, the “promotion of the family and the education of young people”, and international ssues including the Covid-19 crisis, the “regional situation and security”.
