Mozambique: More than 300 children receive basic school supplies in Beira

More than 300 children in in the Archdiocese of Beira have received basic school supplies donated to them by lay people associated with the Divine Word Missionaries, as part of the “June Solidarity Initiatives.”

Rogério Maduca – Beira, Mozambique.

In Mozambique, June is dedicated to various solidarity initiatives highlighting children’s issues, known as the June Solidarity Initiatives.

According to Father Eduardo Rando, a Divine Word Missionary working in Beira, the initiative organised by the lay people associated with the Divine Word Missionaries is an expression of their sensitivity to the needs of the children and part of their own “June Solidarity Initiative.” Their actions, they said, were also aimed at drawing the attention of the faithful to the importance of giving without expecting anything in return.

Before handing out the basic school supplies (folders, exercise books, pens, rulers and pencils) and socializing with the children, the laity and the children participated in the celebration of the Eucharist.
