Between 14 and 15 December 2021, a meeting of the Council for the Economy was held in the Vatican.

According to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office, the meeting focused on the discussion of the Holy See’s 2022 Budget. Participants also spent time reflecting on the Holy See’s investments and the business plan for 2022 presented by the Auditor General.

The majority of the members of the Council were present at the meeting, with some participating by video link. Due to some institutional commitments of the President, Cardinal Reinhard Marx, the new Deputy Coordinator, Prof. Charlotte Kreuter-Kirchhof, chaired one of the sessions.

At the end of the meeting afternoon on 14 December, Cardinal Marx celebrated Mass for those present.

The meeting ended at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, adjourning to the next meeting, scheduled for February 2022.
