By Vatican News

This morning, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, called the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Mohammad Shtayyeh, to express his sorrow, and that of the Holy See, for what is happening in Palestine, and particularly in Gaza.

He gave the assurance that the Holy See will continue to recognize only the State of Palestine and its authorities as the representatives of the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.

He stressed that in this situation, it is imperative to guarantee that Humanitarian Law is fully respected and to ensure that civilians, especially the most vulnerable, health facilities and places of worship are not impacted by the conflict.

Yesterday, the Cardinal strongly expressed this same message to all the parties involved.
