The Deputy General Manager of the Bayard Publishing Group, and President of the Federation of Catholic Media in France, is appointed consultant of the Vatican Dicastery for Communication.

Pope Francis has appointed Dr Jean-Marie Montel, Deputy Director General of the Bayard Group, and President of the Federation of Catholic Media in France, as consultant of the Dicastery for Communication.
Who is Jean-Marie Montel?
A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Grenoble and the French Press Institute, Jean-Marie Montel has held many responsibilities in the ecclesial, media and associative fields. In particular, he was Delegate for Communication for the Scouts of France between 1995 and 2001; General Delegate of the “Civisme et Démocratie” Association from 2001 to 2005; President and General Manager of Malesherbes Publications (La Vie-Le Monde Group) from 2006 to 2012; and General Manager of Milan Presse from 2012 to 2013.
He joined the Bayard Group in 2013, where he was appointed Deputy General Manager in July 2017.
Bayard is a publishing and printing group linked to the Congregation of the Assumptionists. Among other activities, the Group publishes the daily newspaper “La Croix”. Jean-Marie Montel is also President of “Via Aeterna”, the music festival of Mont Saint-Michel.
Since January 2018, as President of the Federation of Catholic Media in France, and in collaboration with the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, he has organized the International Days of St. Francis de Sales. The next edition of the event will be held in Lourdes from 22 to 24 January 2020.
