Earlier announcing the Cardinal’s visit on Botswana national television, BTV’s weekend Breakfast show, Fr. Sylvester Boipuso Kaemana and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal National Coordinator Alice Binny Modisenyane said the Conference was slated for Gaborone’ St Joseph’s College.

Cardinal Turkson Keynote address

Cardinal Turkshop was scheduled to give the keynote speech Monday and later celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

During his stay in Botswana, Cardinal Turkson will also meet with priests and the religious; leading laypersons as well as with some politicians.

CHARIS the new international umbrella organisation

Last month Pope Francis asked two leading international Charismatic bodies to unite under one umbrella.

The Pope used the feast of Pentecost to officially bring together the two umbrella organisations working for Charismatic Renewal communities and prayer groups. Both the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal (ICCR) and the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships (CF) had representation and offices in Rome.

The new body is known as the Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service (CHARIS).

The Holy See’s Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life has appointed 20 persons to different services within CHARIS for a three-year period which began last Pentecost. The first moderator of CHARIS is Dr Jean-Luc Moens of Belgium.

National Charismatic bodies all over the world are similarly being asked to realign accordingly.
