European nations give ultimatum to Venezuela

Four European Nations are giving Venezuela an ultimatum to announce a Presidential Election and a deadline of eight days, or they`ll recognize opposition leader Juan Guaido as the legitimate Interim President.

By James Blears

Britain, France, Germany and Spain have announced the ultimatum. The European Union has issued a milder statement saying there must be a Presidential Election in Venezuela or further actions will be taken, including addressing the leadership issue, not mentioning a time line. The United States has already recognized Juan Guaido as Venezuela`s Interim President. And is calling on all nations to stand with the forces of freedom. Russia, China, Turkey, Mexico, Cuba and Bolivia support President Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate President of Venezuela.

Venezuela`s Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza who attended the UN National Security Council meeting is stressing that no one will dictate elections or deadlines to Venezuela. But he also says the Government of President Nicolas Maduro does want to establish communication and a dialogue with The Government of President Donald Trump. The crisis continues to deepen, widen and divide.
